British Columbia and Alberta

It was a long time coming but this August we took at extended holiday and road tripped BC and Alberta. Vancouver over to the Island via Nanaimo and then Ucuelet and Tofino before heading over to Whistler and then across to Kamloops.

Days spent exploring in the high mountains including Clearwater, Valemount, checking out Mount Robson and the scorched landscapes around Jasper, making it to Spirit Island on Lake Maligne and then heading south up and over the 2,000m high Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise, then doing Banff and Canmore before flying back.

We did a mix of activities including a chunk of days biking and some great folks to meet along the way. Whistler lived up to expectations – what a place to spend a few days in the peak of summer. We hired bikes in advance from Evolution Bikes – props to them for a super slick setup. Bronson and Heckler trail bikes and then V10s for the bike park day. The riding was as good as I had dreamt it would be and there were weeks worth of trails to explore across Whistler and Blackcomb. Massive thanks to the team at Fanatyk who kitted us up with some great gear and made me miss my days working in a bike shop.

After the heavy tourist traffic in Banff the chilled and relaxed atmosphere in Canmore was a real highlight. What a place. Brilliant to head up to the Olympic village and explore the trails – great variety and mix and somewhere I would definitely go back to. The team at Rebound Cycles really looked after us and I can’t thank them enough for that.

The urge to go back is strong.
