The word rothar is irish for bike. This mountain bike site is a constantly changing reflection of what has happened and what is happening in the world of bikes and the Interweb. It’s maintained by Cris Bloomfield whose first experience of riding anything with two wheels offroad was downhilling on a scooter with a friction brake two-up with his Dad and blowing out the rear tyre. He started riding mountain bikes in the late 1980s.
When he was 14 he started doing bike repairs for other people and shortly after that started working in a bike shop. With over fifteen years experience working in the bike trade at different shops in the UK, he now lives in Northern England. He now works full time in IT and runs the Independent Fabrication Owners’ Club amongst other things.

rothar.com likes: riding bikes, reading and writing about bikes, fettling with bikes, taking pictures of people riding bikes and non bike related stuff like four wheel drifts around corners, powder snow, pasta, pesto and peas and breakfast tea.
