Ride the Alps recommended that all riders on the trip run bigger tyres than you normally use in UK i.e. 2.3″ to 2.4/2.5″ size tyres. They also recommend that if you really want to be very well prepared (although not necessary), you should increase the size of your rotor or discs.
If you have a 140mm diameter rotor this may be possibly too small and suffer from overheating, which may be dangerous on long descents. We descend just over 2,000m (6,400 feet) in one go on the Chamonix to Zermatt trip on a couple of days.

I decided the Deluxe wasn’t quite up to Spec after the Trans Wales trip, so I’ve made a few changes to the Ti Deluxe instead. It’s now in it’s third build state since I bought it a couple of years ago and it’ll be going back to a more cross country setup once the new full susser arrives. In the mean time there are some more pictures here.
